Description

A fun-loving space for families. Think eclectic interiors, al-fresco dining and a treehouse for a bedroom. A wildlife-friendly park and Notting Hill are nearby.

In this four-bedroom home, vast proportions are balanced by attention to detail. Period features are complemented by mid-century teak, vintage furnishings and creature comforts.

From the street-level entrance, a gallery wall draws you into the bay-fronted living room. Soundtrack hours here with the small library of LPs – you’ll find a couple of turntables on the bespoke shelving. It leads to an eat-in kitchen, though in truth it’s hard not to feel like al fresco dining here. Running the length of the room, a skylight floods the space with natural light, while fully retractable doors open to a private patio garden with table and chairs.

Bedrooms are dotted across the first and second floors. Featuring a mural and blackened flooring, the master bedroom feels gallery-esque yet homely. In its metro-tiled en suite, a claw-foot roll-top says rest and reset. Note the reclaimed Burlington cistern, too. Children will love the treehouse-style bedroom. With toys, books and a trundle bed, it uses real trunks to playful effect. There is a further double bedroom and a single bedroom cum study.

The Area

This cosmopolitan district charmed Londoners long before that 90s film put it on the traveller’s map. Hunt for antiques along Portobello Road Market. Lunch on fashionable Westbourne Grove. Or dip between candy-coloured terraces, retro boutiques and fringe theatre. Visiting over August bank holiday? Pack your dancing shoes. Notting Hill Carnival is Europe’s biggest street party.
