There’s an understated charm to this two-bedroom apartment. Depictions of country scenes hang against a scheme of creamy whites and pacifying blues. Thanks to its third-floor vantage point, there’s a diaphanous daylight – no matter the season.

The well-equipped kitchen makes easy work of home-cooked dinners, a good foil for days exploring. Gather around the dining table in the north-facing living room before kicking back on the wrap-around sofa. In summer months, we say: fling open the French doors and have breakfast on the small balcony. That first sip of coffee tastes all the better for it. From here, the master bedroom with super-king and en suite, a twin room and family bathroom extend laterally.

Step outside and you’re on the western cusp of leafy Holland Park. Notting Hill is a 15-minute walk away; head out early on a Saturday treasure hunt through Portobello Road Market. To the west: Shepherd’s Bush. Stride out to Westfield Shopping Centre in a decent five minutes. The return journey may take longer, haul depending.
