However, when we checked in we found the two lounges to be not as well appointed or as comfortable for gathering as the other rooms, floors beneath rugs were filthy, actually, which wasn't great since we had grandchildren with us. Curtains were falling off the windows and appeared dirty. The kitchen wasn't quite clean, the fridge had frosted over, so I had to defrost which resulted in a flood. Buckets and rags were left right outside the kitchen door, the 3rd floor shower drain was clogged and flooded the bathroom, after one shower on the first day, there was no hot water, the windows in the top floor bedroom would not open on the hottest day of the year, the tv screen in the 2nd floor lounge was cracked and the table was broken. We called agency and they said they would send someone over to address some of these issues. That person arrived Sunday NIGHT at 8 p.m. without notice as we were heading out to dinner with two small, hungry and jet lagged kids.
I spent the entire first day of our holiday mopping, removing dead bugs, cleaning out grotty cupboards, cleaning floors, sopping up shower water and my reward was an icy shower!
There was also a very complicated key system, with dedicated keys for each window or door set. That was very difficult, especially in that it was warm and there was quite a dance to open and close windows!
The house was perfect for my family-
