Area

Notting Hill

Londoner’s can’t help but associate this west London neighbourhood with one of the highlights of the summer: Notting Hill Carnival. The rest of the year is, of course, somewhat quieter; Notting Hill being at its heart, a leafy, residential neighbourhood home to the chic, well-heeled and rather famous. But even so, something of the electric, bohemian spirit of that August bank holiday remains in the air all year long.

This home is in a wonderfully family-friendly location, but we should mention that it's also opposite a school. Whilst weekends are fine, this tends to make the area a bit busier on weekdays. The home is split over a raised ground and lower ground floor, so there are a few steps involved. Visiting in the summer? There are three portable desk fans available to help keep you cool.
No smoking, pets or parties, please!

Reviews

John,
We loved the space so much and have already talked about using it again in the future or at least another verve property.

Enjoyed the area and good location
Caroline,
We had a great time. The flat was lovely and we were largely satisfied. One of your neighbors has some eclectic tastes in loud music, but it was during the day and not an issue. The location and price were great. However...,

The flat was marketed to us (via a phone conversation when our first rental flat fell through) as a two bath apartment. In fact it is only a one bath with a separate bathtub in the maser bedroom -- silly and awkward. As a family of five, we really could have used a second toilet instead of two tubs and a shower stall. To make things better for others, we have made the list below:

Things that need some attention:
- The shower stall seems to have a bad seal at the base and leaks.
- The bathtub drain is slow enough that it is not really usable
- The shower controls - cannot switch to handheld, so it makes it a very cold start and hard to lather up - we had to switch the water on and off to lather up.
- The towel heater has no known switch to turn it off. It made things hot.
- Refrigerator is too warm, we had milk and deli meat spoil in the fridge well before its sell by date.
- Lack of a consistent wifi connection. The connection would suddenly stop working and then be out for hours. A better, more powerful router should be a must if this flat is to continue to be a rental property.
- There is no description of recycling - we had to include recyclables with regular trash - very strange these days.
- The dishwasher - we could not tell if it worked, so we did all dishes by hand. The top rack does not seem to come out.

John,
It was very convenient to public transportion and Portobello Market. The flat was a little older, some of the lightbulbs were out, the light switches also were odd and sometimes worked sometimes didn’t. Neighborhood was good, lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. School across the street, but didn’t notice any noises that were a bother. Very comfortable for the three of us.
Francisco Javier,
It was a good experience. The location of the apartment very good, with good transport links and nearby supermarkets, cafes, etc. The apartment had everything you could need. Very comfortable beds. It corresponded with the photographs shown on the web.
Fruciano,
Awesome. Transport was good as bus station was close by. Train services were not operational but that was okay because the stations were buggy unfriendly apartment and station. The environment was secure and we had everything working. Although the house was not very toddler friendly as we had to move all breakables off the ground. The kitchen had no doors so we could not keep the twins out but we managed all the same. The house was clean and warm. Generally it was a pleasant experience.
Timothy,
Nice neighbourhood.
Would want to stay closer, to centre but appreciated it was quiet.
Clean and charming lots of room.
Enjoyed the library very muchly.
Not enough towels, toilet paper.
Poor quality pillows.
Exterior property poor, and could be cleaner.
Very disappointed with 'garden' not really what we expected to sit outside since the 'brits' love gardens, or so we thought. Not what we saw on website.
The flat was nice and clean and homely.
