Through those French windows await long afternoons and evenings of good summer living - fairy lights and huge outdoor sofas create a perfectly magical enclave in which to enjoy a barbecue and some drinks, with plenty of space for kids to play at the back of the garden.

At the end of a day well spent, the sleeping quarters offer up their own delightful, private worlds. The principal bedroom lays on elegant, classical grandiosity, with the gravitas of a super-king bed sitting in mighty repose at its centre. This bedroom boasts an en-suite so grand it almost equates to a personal spa - but with most of the other bedrooms enjoying a gleaming bathroom of their own, we guarantee you’ll be saved from battling it out, come morning ablutions!

Okay, so you may not find yourself queuing for the shower, but there’s one thing we’ve not yet mentioned and – disclaimer – it has been known to inspire the odd round of whose-turn-is-it-anyway. In the principal bedroom is… a massage chair. We’ll leave it up to you as to whether you share that or not.
