Peppered with canes and clocks, old books and model bi-planes, the bright and roomy living spaces combine to create a delightfully transportive mise-en-scene. Elsewhere, the bedrooms’ plush carpets and soft, fuscia-kissed creams breathe soothing classicism, elegantly offset by antique Georgian furnishings and grand Victorian interiors. A double bedroom on the top floor flows through to a relaxingly retro bathroom with bath, shower and W/C, with the single bedroom one floor down boasts an en-suite of its own, leaving you with plenty of options for long, hot soaks. The principal bedroom is a further feast of grand proportions and unique, period pieces, freshened by lashings of natural light and Matisse-style flourishes. If this all sounds a little grandiose, we recommend sneaking in some snug downtime in the lounge (cup of tea in hand), for a taste of inimitably English domesticity.
