Set in charming Brackenbury Village, this design-led duplex apartment is a beacon of good taste. Ideal for discerning families or small groups.

This eclectic three-bedroom apartment needn’t shout about its style credentials. Arranged over two levels, it wouldn’t look out of place in an interiors magazine – all contemporary art, industrial accents, edited open shelving and textural finishes of exposed brick, knotted wood and tatami-esque flooring. Very cool, very now.

The open-plan kitchen/ living room is the social heart of the home – the drinks trolley makes for a smooth transition between meals shared around the dining table and lingering conversation by the Crittall-mirrored fireplace. Double-aspect windows flood the space with light. Good news, because it makes the office nook that bit more inviting should you need to put in a few hours.

The upper floor is devoted to bedrooms – two with king-size beds, a third with a single and optional pull-out double – as well as the metro-tiled family bathroom.

Outside, a family-oriented pocket of Fulham. Brackenbury Village is loved for its rural vibe, independent shops and excellent pubs, notably the Anglesea Arms. Ravenscourt Park is an easy stroll away, as are Goldhawk Road and Hammersmith underground stations.

The Area

Hugged by the Thames, Chiswick draws creative types with its indie shops, delis, restaurants and wine bars – the best of them around Chiswick High Road. Days here are spent admiring old-master paintings at Chiswick House, catching shows in the Playhouse or gin tasting in Sipsmith’s distillery. Follow the Thames Path from Strand-on-the-Green to Chiswick Bridge, the end of the university boat race.

This is a very nice house/apartment. The layout is nice and convenient, with a kitchen that is very homey. It would be even better, however, if the bathroom could be locked from the inside. And the walk-in shower floor is slightly lowered so that water does not easily flow out and flood the entire bathroom. The sofas and rugs also needs regular cleaning (the cushions are flat and the rug yellowing) and maybe add a few more channels to the TV programmes. Overall it is a very nice place, and I would recommend it to others.
